The Akaka-Secession Bill - named after
its key sponsor, U.S. Sen. Daniel Akaka, D-Hawaii -
defines a process in which the federal government,
through the Department of the Interior, would recognize
a native Hawaiian governing entity and could lead to the
secession of that entity from the United State of
America. The impact of this entity on private property
in Hawaii is unknown and could have dramatic, unforeseen
